PhD in Ecology from the University of Coimbra in 1993 and held a post-doctoral fellowship at Stanford University, USA, in 1994/95. She is currently a tenured Professor in the Department of Life Sciences (DCV), Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra.
Member of the Scientific Board of DCV, President of the Portuguese Society for Ecology and Coordinator of the Centre for Functional Ecology.
She is Vice-Rector of the University of Coimbra since March 2, 2011, with responsibility for Institutional Relations.
